Back in 2019, I was sitting across from my brother who'd just asked me to explain his mortgage statement. He's a brilliant engineer, but the numbers confused him. That's when it hit me—if someone that smart felt lost with basic financial documents, how many others were struggling?
milafonqera began because we saw too many people making financial decisions based on guesswork instead of understanding. Not because they weren't capable, but because most financial education assumes you already speak the language. We wanted to change that.
So we built something different. Something that starts where you are, not where textbooks think you should be.
These aren't corporate values we printed on a poster. They're the principles we return to when making decisions about what to teach and how to teach it.
